Could we race for money?

No and here's numerous reasons why I can't see any races where you could win decent money in Ireland at least.

First, no respect between competitiors. You look at the last MI X30 Senior race where their was so little respect that I'd hate to imagine what happens if money was involved. We'd need more than two ambulances that's for sure. In America it's the norm to race for money in some championships and it can be quite rough at times but to be honest I think the level of aggression is fine. Another thing America has over us is bigger budgets which means binning a chassis for possible big cash prize isn't the end of the world. Where in Ireland we've a lot of different types of budgets which means maybe you couldn't replace your kart.

What class and what championship? So we've the issue of X30 and Rotax class having really good drivers in each so which is the top class? Currently in MI it's X30 because it's not a 'clubman' championship like Rotax even though I'd argue the competition is as tough, they just get one less race every weekend. But if something like this was to happen it would have to happen at a TKC T plate where theirs no points on the line. Then would the event attract the top drivers which is what it would need. Not saying TKC aren't top but it doesn't have the likes of Oran England, Sean Hogan etc We need the top guys as we want some drama and it's needed from a media point of view. If theirs no hard fighting and it's a boring race.. then it's not really special. I don't think juniors should race for money, they're juniors so they should be racing to learn and become better drivers on and off track. So basically we've no clear class to be chosen.

Where would we get the money? Since none of our races are live streamed it's hard to attract sponsors. Yes we'll be trying to do more media wise for both TKC and MI but their is only so much we can do and for the amount we'd want I'm not sure it's enough. Another problem I believe is Motorsport isn't a very popular sport in Ireland. Sadly If this was a GAA sport it probably be no problem but it isn't.. but hopefully we can change that for next year where the media I hope will be top notch.

Hopefully people won't take this article too much to heart, we've great drivers and classes but money shouldn't be brought in.
